Architecture + Extreme Environments Semester fieldwork Project

Along the northern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, beaches are shaped by a steady movement of sand driven by waves and longshore currents. Even in this low-energy, microtidal environment, small disruptions can have major consequences. Piers and jetties act as littoral barriers that disturb nearshore flow, trapping sediment on one side while starving beaches on the other. Over time, the shoreline retreats grain by grain.

This project explores pier-mounted vanes as a retrofit designed not to block water, but to redirect it. The prototype is suspended between existing pier columns and uses angled, perforated vanes to steer near-bed currents, reduce velocity in the lee, and create conditions where sand can settle. By working with hydrodynamic energy rather than resisting it, the intervention aims to restore sediment pathways and reduce localized erosion.

The device operates as both architectural object and field instrument. Flow is measured upstream, in the wake, and in the lee, while sediment pins record scour and accretion around each column. Under calm conditions the changes are minimal, but during Nortes the effects become clear. Higher vane angles produce stronger flow shelter and greater lee-side deposition, showing how small shifts in geometry can create measurable coastal effects.

Demo Reel

This demo reel brings together selected work across nature documentaries, music videos, promotional films, short narratives, and personal projects. Rooted in a film industry background and shaped by years of hands-on production experience, the work reflects a strong command of light, composition, and visual continuity. Whether capturing quiet natural moments, performance-driven energy, or structured commercial storytelling, each project is approached with a cinematic sensibility and a narrative focus.

The Land That Runs Wild | An Aerial Story

Shot from the sky, the short narrative follows the rhythm of hooves, wind, and wide horizons, revealing a lifestyle shaped by freedom, movement, and deep connection to the land. Sweeping drone passes capture riders cutting across fields, horses running through dust-lit pastures, and the quiet vastness that surrounds it all.
